Russia-gate is so pathetic it’s comical, but it also has truly evil aspects, as when “centrist” Democrats (i.e. extremist neoliberals) blame U.S. social inequality and racial tensions not on oligarch greed, but on Russia.
For example, Julia Ioffe writes for The Atlantic blog, which is a propaganda rag for Israel and for the Democrat Establishment. Ms. Ioffe is a Jewish supremacist. Anyone who displeases her is an “anti-Semite.” She is also a cheerleader for Russia-gate. Anyone who displeases her, or the neocons, or the Democratic Establishment, is a “Russian agent.”
Recently Ms. Ioffee wrote that Russia sustains racial tensions in the USA. Clearly she is trying to appeal to racism in whites. “Forget DNC corruption. Instead, focus on the fact that the Russians created the Black Lives Matter movement.”
This bullshit annoys blacks like Mr. Ajamu Baraka, who was Jill Stein’s vice-presidential running mate on the Green Party ticket in 2016.
Mr. Baraka notes that Russia-gate is not new. The U.S. government denounced the 1950s Civil Rights movement as a “Russian plot.” Anyone who advocated for racial equality was a “Soviet Agent.”
Today, the new McCarthyism is being led by centrist Democrats utilizing the comical notion that Russia has the power to not only impact elections, but create racial tensions. Once again, Black opposition is being cast as foreign influenced and, therefore, a security threat that justifies special targeted repression.
Even loyal servants like Donna Brazile have now provoked the ire of the Democrat party leaders who wonder whether she is a Russian mole.
It is not Russians gunning down our people in the streets.
It is not Russians transferring our children from juvenile courts to adult courts in record numbers.
It is not Russians infiltrating our organizations; suppressing our votes; and closing down schools and hospitals in our communities.
It is not Russians poisoning the water in our communities.
It is not Russians raising our rents and taxes, and running us out of the cities.
It is not Russians militarizing the police through the 1033 program.
No… these are the results of the policies enacted and implemented by good-old “Americans” in a society where the lives of Blacks, workers, and poor people don’t matter.
If the U.S. capitalist oligarchy has an issue with the Russian capitalist oligarchy, this has nothing to do with us. If the rich want war, let the the rich fight for themselves!
Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report says that,
Russiagate is an artificial crisis that was made necessary by the actual crisis of U.S. imperialism — its economic decline, its military dependence on jihadist foot soldiers, and the utter collapse of U.S. moral authority in the world.
Indeed. All indications are that the Empire is desperate as rich people hollow out the core, stealing everything for themselves.
The U.S. imperial orbit is shrinking dramatically. Russiagate is the domestic response to this reality. Wall Street, the military industrial complex, the Clintonite leaders of the Democratic Party, and the corporate media that serves them all — are shrinking the American people’s political vision to Halloween dimensions. Not only are there Russians lurking in every dark corner and under every bed, but they can buy a U.S. election or foment civil disturbance and political unrest for about $100,000 — the price of a luxury car.
PARTING SHOT
When we first saw the 1931 version of “Frankenstein,” most of us thought it hokey. Today I consider it a piece of artistic genius. No other version has ever come close in my opinion. The scene by the lake is so horrendous that I could never watch it again (even though we don’t actually see anything). That is, if I were watching it on disc, I would skip over it. That sequence was filmed at Malibu Lake CA, close to where I grew up.
